Gonzalesz College overcome STC prep by 163 runs
Gonzalesz College Pamunugama powered by half tons from skipper Pathum Priyashad, Sahan Kosala and Rohith Rashmika and an economical four wicket haul by left arm spin bowler Praveen Susantha overcame St. Thomas’ Preparatory School by 164 runs in their Under-17 Division III second round fixture played at the Malay Cricket Ground.
Electing to bat first Gonzalesz College scored 309 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs. In addition to the half tons by Pathum (67 off 42 balls), Sahan (69 off 61 balls) and Rashmika (52 off 39 balls), Dhananjaya Viduranga (41) and Nisala Akash (27) added to the score.
Prashan David and Abhishek Fernando captured two wickets each.
In reply the boys from Colpetty could only manage to post 146 runs. Ruvin Kodagoda scored 44 off 75 balls while Manith Ratwatte scored 27. Charith Thoradeniya was unfortunately run out for 17. Praveen Susantha captured 4 wickets conceding only 15 runs off his 10 overs while Hirusha Ashen captured two wickets.
