Under the new tax regime, the tax on public servants is calculated by treating as income, the monetary value of facilities given to them such as vehicles, driver salaries, telephones, etc.

I would like to ask the mandarins of the Treasury whether in calculating the salaries of politicians for tax purposes, whether they value and add to their salaries the cost of providing:

1.) Fleet of vehicles that follow them wherever they go.
2.) Scores of security offices.
3.) Twenty or more personal staff provided to each of them.
4.) Helicopter rides that the President, Prime Minister and Speaker take as if they were tuk tuk rides.
5.) Foreign trips often accompanied by family members.
6.) Subsidised official residences.
7.) Subsidised meals in Parliament.
8.)  Etc.
Of course they will argue that these are provided for “official purposes.” So are all the facilities provided to public servants.

Over to you, Mr. Finance Minister
Disgusted public servant
