Royal Colombo in easy win over St. Thomas’ Matale
View(s):Royal College Colombo posted an easy first innings win over St. Thomas’ College Matale in their SLSCA Under-15 Division I Inter-School second round cricket fixture played at the St. Thomas’ ground in Matale on August 12.
Dasis Manchanayake leading the way with an entertaining knock of 102 runs off 73 balls inclusive of 12 boundaries and four sixes saw Royal College taking the first lease of the crease declare their innings at 275 for 4 wickets in 43 overs.
Matale Thomians in their turn were bowled out for 78 runs in 50.1 overs with the two bowlers Kanika Dayarathna (5/31) and Thevindu Hansaja (3/14) dominating the proceeding to share eight wickets between them. St. Thomas’ were struggling at 47 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the 20th over. However the last pair Shilpa Wilgamuwa (13) and Mathisha Moragala (14) defied the bowlers for 30 overs and they added 31 runs for the last wicket to take their total to 78 runs. – LDC
