Lyceum International School Wattala, won the Under-14 Girls’ team championship at the Inter-International Schools’ Netball Tournament 2018. The tournament was organised by Lyceum International School Ratnapura and was held at the Lyceum Wattala courts.
Lyceum Wattala remained unbeaten after the preliminary round, winning all their matches comfortably. In the final they played against Gateway College Colombo and recorded a thrilling 12-11 win to clinch the much deserving championship.
The victorious team was led by Shayani de Silva, who had all the support and backing from fellow members Melania Perera, Dehenmi Ruwansiri, Hiruni Amaya, Ransi Heenkenda, Maria Fernando, Limansa Fernando, Shenara Jayasekara, Chrismarie Jayamanne, Vinusari Devinya, Susan Senaratne and Andria Rodrigo.
Lyceum Wattala netballers also claimed three individual awards on offer after their stupendous performance throughout the competition. Dehenmi Ruwansiri was named the Netball Queen while Vinusari Devinya won the award for the Best Shooter. Susan Senaratne was named the Best Defensive Player.
