I have so many books at home
but out of all I have a special book. It is ‘Heidi’ by Johanna Spyri. I have read it so many times but still I feel like reading it again and again. It is an attractive story which anyone will be able to read.
I like it because it has so many interesting things. It is about a poor little girl who lives with her grandfather in Switzerland.
I think that all the children should read this book. I hope that this book will be my favourite book forever.

I named it Cutie because it is so cute.
It is yellow in colour. It is a one month old chick. It likes to eat worms and leaves. It likes to play with me. My pet is my best friend.

An unexpected encounter
It was a rainy day and it was very cold outside. I was sitting in my room, reading a book. I heard a little voice in the garden. I went to the garden to find out who it was.
It was a tiny thing from outer-space. She was a friendly alien. Her name was Wiggly. Wiggly invited me to her
spaceship. When we were playing, the spaceship took off. I started to cry.
Then I heard my mother call me.
I was happy that it was a dream.

Spending a day with my friend
One bright sunny morning, I woke very early. I stretched my arms and got out of bed. I went close to my sister’s bed and checked if she was asleep. To my relief, she was. I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom to wash my face. Then I ran downstairs and I saw my mum looking at the clock with a smiling face. A smile spread across my face as well.
“Well, your best friend’s mum just phoned me and said that all of us are invited to spend a day with her in a big hotel,” mum said excitedly. I was so excited that I could spend the whole day with my friend. We would have so much fun!
We finally reached the hotel. I was overjoyed to see my friend. We straight away changed and went to the pool. I liked to splash about in the pool. After some time we got out and changed.
Our parents told us that we were going to go to an aquarium. It was a gigantic aquarium full of colourful fish such as whales, sharks, dolphins and sea turtles. After an exciting tour, my friend and I went to a nearby park. We played until we were dried out. The sun was setting and we planned to go home. I gave my friend a big hug and said goodbye.
Though it was a really tiring day for me it was the best spend-the-day ever!
I had a wonderful and fabulous time with my friend.

If I could visit any planet in the Solar System…
If I could visit any planet in the Solar System,
I would go to Mars. I prefer the planet Mars among the eight planets in the Solar System because scientists say that there could be life and water on Mars.
This planet is also known as the ‘Red Planet’. So I would like to see and know whether there is a red colour in Mars or not. When I return back to my country, I will bring back some small souvenirs
like a rock or some soil from the planet Mars. When I arrive, people will praise me. I will be famous around the world.
So, I would like to visit Mars and make my mother country proud in the future.

The national animal is the Giant Squirrel. The national game is Volleyball but Sri Lanka is famous
for cricket.
Our country is a peaceful country.

My naughty brother
I have a small brother. He does naughty work always. So I call him naughty brother.
My mother punishes him always because he does naughty work all the time. But he also does his studies well. He is Hansaja Wedagedara, who studies in Grade 6 in Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala. His hobby is watching television. Sometimes I also punish him because he takes my personal items. Anyway, I love my naughty brother and I know he loves me too.

A trip to Water World
I went on a trip to Water World. It is very beautiful. We saw many varieties of fish. We saw Starfish, Jellyfish, Seahorses, Dolphins and Sharks. We saw many birds too. We saw Ostrich, Mynah, Blue Parrot and other birds. We went under the water tunnel. It was fantastic. I enjoyed very well.
I went with my father, mother, brother and uncle.

My aunt
My aunt is Miss Khema Kalyani. She is my father’s elder sister. She lives with us. She is very religious. She offers flowers to Lord Buddha twice a day. She chants pirith beautifully.
Her hobbies are reading and sewing. She has sewn lovely pillowcases and frocks for me. She likes to go on trips and pilgrimages. My aunt tells me beautiful stories at my bedtime. She does not like dogs but she loves my cat. She is kind and helpful. I love my aunt very much. I wish her good health and a long life.

My hobby is gardening. I have a big garden. There are roses, anthuriums, jasmines in my garden. I grow flowers in the evening. My sister and mother help me to water them. My father brings manure for me.

My best friend
My best friend is Fayaz from the school time. We are good friends from childhood and still continue. He is a smart boy having a fair complexion and dimpled cheeks. He is a handsome boy. I like him so much.
I still remember the day we met in our Kindergarten class and became great friends forever. He is very entertaining, jolly and helpful. He understands me a lot and is always ready to help me in all my bad or happy conditions. We are classmates. We go to school together every day and play sports daily in the nearby grounds of our house. I love my friend.

My lost puppy
My puppy’s name is Dooky. It has a body with white spots. The bow around its neck gives it a nice and rich look.
School had ended for the day. I was waiting impatiently to play with Dooky. I searched everywhere for Dooky. But Dooky could not be found. I told my parents that Dooky was missing.
I was very sad. I thought I could not find Dooky. I thought I had lost my best friend and playing mate.
I thought of my puppy. It might be feeling very sad. It will not be able to find its way home. A terrible thought came to my mind. What would happen if a stranger had kidnapped my Dooky.
I made posters too. I made lots of leaflets and I asked my friends to tell me immediately if they found Dooky.
All of a sudden I felt lonely. I was extremely scared and started to shout. Then my mother asked me why. Then I knew it was a dream because just then Dooky jumped on to me and licked my face.

My favourite flower
My favourite flower is Rose. There are many kinds of roses, red, yellow, white and pink. My favourite kind of rose is pink. I have three kinds of roses at my home. They are pink, white and red. Butterflies and bees are coming to suck nectar from our roses. When the bees are coming I thought the bees will make hives. I love roses very much.
