The grand finale of the 8th Stafford Motor Co. (Pvt) Ltd., ‘Honda’ Trophy, MCA ‘G’ Division Tournament will take place with fairfirst Insurance (fairfirst) and Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) locking horns next Saturday (15) at the MCA Grounds.
The two semi-finals last weekend saw SLT and fairfirst reaching the finals, defeating MAS Linea Aqua (MAS LA) and Mobitel, respectively.
In the top half Semifinal played last Saturday, new recruit, Asel Sigera powered fairfirst to an exciting 3-wickets win over MAS.LA.
Sigera, after restricting MAS.LA to 125 runs in 23.5 over, with an outstanding bowling spell of 4.5-0-11-5, went on to score a swashbuckling 47 not out in 29 balls, inclusive of 9 boundaries, as fairfirst raced to 128/7 in 24.1 overs.
In the bottom half semifinal, played on Sunday, a well compiled half-century by in-form batsman, Nirushan Ramachandra (52 in 46 balls, with 2 sixes and 6 fours) guided SLT to a comfortable 7-wickets win over Mobitel.
