SLAF spikers register two handsome wins in Bangladesh
View(s):SLAF Men’s Volleyball Team won the Sport Exchange Friendly Volleyball Tournament in Dhaka, Bangladesh, defeating the Bangladesh Air Force Team 2-0.
In this two match series, the first encounter Sri Air Force were given a good fight by the Bangladesh spikers. They started with a bang to grab the first set 17-25 and the SLAF team came back to the game by winning the second set 25-18 and went on to win the second and third sets. The gutty Bangladeshis playing with a set plan clinched the fourth set, but the Lankans scored a close win to claim the match 3-2. (Scores: 17-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-27 and 15-13)
The SLAF Team didn’t find things difficult in the second match to win 3-1. Bangladeshis started well to win the first set but the much fancied SLAF men went on to win the remaining three sets to win the series 2-0. (Scores: 15-25, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23) thereby winning the series 2-0.
Leading Aircraftman Rashmika JLA was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the series.
This is the first occasion that a SLAF Volleyball Team visited Bangladesh for a tournament of this nature.
