Rajya Osusala, Peradeniya Uni. to provide Community Pharmacy Services
View(s):Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne declared open a Joint Collaborative Project of the University of Peradeniya (UoP) and Rajya Osusala, between the Dept of Pharmacy, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC). This collaborative and unique project aims to provide state-of-the-art Pharmacy services to the community.
UoP Vice Chancellor Prof Upul B. Dissanayake, SPC Chairman and Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences were the Chief Guests at this important milestone of the Faculty. This Collaborative Community Pharmacy Services to the community is unique in a way that it will provide Teaching, Training and Research to the UoP undergraduates.
This Pharmacy Service will also provide much needed Counseling services on uses of medication, and also establish a Regional Pharmacy Vigilance Centre. UoP Undergraduates and staff are eligible to a 5% discount on the total cost of a prescription. This long-term dream of University Pharmacy came into existence largely due to the financial and logistical support provided by the SPC. – LBS
