The Anthonians made all the running but failed to control the skies. Bad light thwarted their bid for victory when Vidyartha were in trouble at 93 for 7 still 38 runs behind.

Earlier in the day Abeykoon and Kameel made fifties and added117 for the sixth wicket. The home team ended on a comfortable 270 for 6.

Magical spinner Nimnaka Jayatilleke (5 for 48) then shot out the visitors for 139. Skipper Isuru Prabodha’s 34 was the chief feature of Vidyartha’s 93 for 7 second time around.

St. Servatius gives Trinity a good run
Trinity was given a run by St. Servatius in their drawn opening match of the season at Asgiriya.
The home team showed great powers of recovery to move from 133 for 7 to 228, after skipper Pubudu Bandara had set the pace with a brisk 50. Dinitha Siriwardena, Kavishka Senadheera and Mohammed Raizan came up with substantial contributions.
Off spinner Chetaka Dinikan and Nathum Sahastra (leg-spin) finished with three wickets each.
The visiting team were not fazed by the challenge and totalled a fighting 183. Chethana Denuwan had ten fours and a six in his defiant 70. Kavindu Umesh and Kavishka Senadheera were among the wickets. Pubudhu Bandara lit up the opening proceedings with a 33 that had five fours and two sixes.
