Stigmata wins gold at Asia Music Awards contest
View(s):Sri Lanka’s leading heavy metal band Stigmata has brought home the gold, winning the prestigious Asia Music Awards contest.
The Asian Music Awards is a regional Battle of the Bands competition hosted by www.channelfix.com, sponsored by Boost Records and enables any artist representing any genre of music to participate. Stigmata was approached to submit a song and video to enter the competition. The band made an impact with “Heavy is the Head that Wears the Crown” featuring Sri Lankan cosplayers; a tribute to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The Asian Music Awards is devised into a series of intense competitive rounds. The first phase is where 250+ artists from around Asia are selected by a distinguished panel of judges including David Sivano, the reputed Swedish music producer and marketing guru of Boost Records. Artistes are judged on song composition, quality and standards of video production. Stigmata qualified for the second phase as one of the Top 5 participants.
Another song supported by a music video was required for the third phase. Looking for a hard-hitting, memorable anthem with a Sri Lankan flavour, Stigmata submitted ‘An Idle Mind is the Devil’s Workshop’ with the groundbreaking Animated Music Video for the song created by Randy Chriz of Meraki United in just four days.
Stigmata qualified with a full score soaring into the quarter finals, a Battle of the Bands elimination round down to the remaining Top 16 bands.These ultimate rounds were based largely on public votes. After an intense battle Stigmata made it to the semi-finals and to the finals where after a stiff competition, they triumphed beating out the Philippines.
