Tabs for AL students after inquiry into maligned procurement process: AVK
View(s):The Government will begin the distribution of free Tabs to Advanced Level students, after an inquiry into the procurement process which got derailed last year, following allegations of unfair practices in awarding the tender.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that many, including parents and students have inquired as to the delay in providing the Tabs and Laptops to students and the schools.
“The delay was due to allegations about the procurement process to obtain Tabs and Laptops last year. I have ordered an inquiry and the committee will hand over its report next month. I will be submitting a Cabinet proposal to procure 50,000 Tabs this year,” he said.
The Minister added that, after this, all schools will also be given Laptops. – DW
