I have many hobbies but my favourite hobby is gardening. I have a big garden. I started gardening about five years ago with my parents. I have a flower garden in front of the house. There are beautiful flowers. Orchids, Jasmines, Queen of the Night and Roses make my garden fragrant. Bougainvillea, Sunflowers, Marigolds and Ixoras make my garden very colourful. There are honey birds, bees and butterflies that come to my garden and it is a pleasure to watch them.
There is a big pond in my garden. There are water-lilies blooming. Everyday a lot of fish swim to and fro in this pond. There is a bird-bath. Birds like to bathe in it. There is a bird feeder too.
Lots of birds and squirrels come to eat the food. There are lots of fruits in my garden such as Mango, Nelli, Veralu and Lemon. During the season, birds and bats come to eat the fruits. I have a vegetable garden at the back of the house with Tomatoes, Chillies, Brinjals and Curry leaves.
We do not throw away leaves and kitchen garbage. We make compost. We put compost to fertilize the plants.
My garden has many advantages. We decorate the house with flowers. We eat nutritious vegetables and fruits from my garden. I love my garden very much.

A hero is someone who inspires our lives
and my hero is my father. My father’s name is Ajith Priyantha Haputhanthri. My father loves us unconditionally. He works in Maldives. He is a Mechanical Engineer by profession.
My father spends his hard-earned money to educate us. He teaches us Maths and Science. He is very happy when I am a winner and he encourages me when I lose. When he is in
Sri Lanka, he keeps awake at night until I am soundly asleep. Then only he goes to bed.
I love my father very much. He is the best father in the whole world.

My ambition
My ambition is to be a doctor because I can save peoples’ lives. I will give them the proper medicine and I will help people clean their wounds. I will wear a white coat at the hospital. I will check whether the right medicine is given to the patients.
Nowadays doctors take money from
poor people and take a high fee from
poor patients. I would like to treat patients without money for free. I will also help the beggars who are on the streets. I would like to help people in foreign countries too.
So, my ambition is I would like to be a doctor one day.

Environment pollution
The environment includes everything such as the air, water, plants and animal life. The greatest problem of the present day is the pollution of the environment,
be it water, air or sound.
Pollution means the introduction into the environment of a substance that has harmful effects for plant and animal life.
As a result of environment pollution, global warming, depletion of the ozone layer, increases in ultra-violet radiation, acid rain, accumulation of heavy metals and pesticides may affect our body.
Environment pollution can also
affect human health such as damage our nervous system, respiratory systems and cause asthma, irritate the eyes and throat.
Though he is the main character that causes environment pollution, man himself is the sole role who can prevent environmental pollution.

My class
One year of our school has already passed and time flew past quite fast. August 3, 2018 was the day I said goodbye to my friends of Class 8A. We were going to be put into separate classes now. Of course, we all are sad to leave our friends and teachers. What we are really upset about is that we might not come together to the same class again.
This class is actually different from all the other Grade 8 classes in my school. We named our class ‘Awesome 8A’ and we felt proud of that name. I also have some awesome friends in this class. Some of them are Ranudi, Kaawya, Hushmarin, Mishel, Dinuli, Aaiden, Fayaz, Joshua, Haran, Bihandu, Chenul and Hari. Everyone in our class is great.
We had so much fun during our last days. We were singing and playing throughout the day. And we also made our logo; a paw print.
I will really miss this class, as it has been one awesome class I have ever been to. I wish we could be together forever, but it will never happen.
This is one of the best classes ever.

Water World is in Kelaniya. It was a nice place. Many nice birds and fish are there. There are big birds like Ostrich. Some birds cannot fly. Some birds can fly. We went from a dark tunnel. There are many small fish and big fish. The birds are chirping loudly. Many people visit Kelaniya Water World.

I lost my way in the jungle
I left my home with the dawn. I went on the trip with my whole family. We went by an air-conditioned bus. Because it was dawn, the whole environment was covered with mist.
After a few hours, we reached a
five star hotel in Kandalama. We got rooms in that hotel. We had our dinner and after that we went to bed.
On the next day morning, we had our breakfast and we started our journey. We walked towards the jungle. We got attracted to Mother Nature’s beautiful creations. We walked further into the deep jungle.
I saw a beautiful deer and started to follow it. When I was following it I saw very beautiful flowers. Then I realized I had forgotten my family.
Then I called my parents and asked them to come and rescue me. Then I started to cry. Then I went and sat down under a tall tree waiting for my parents. When I was there I heard weird noises. That moment my parents appeared. Then I promised my parents that I will never roam alone again. I will never forget this trip during my whole lifetime.

Sigiriya
Sigiriya is a huge rock located in Dambulla in the district of Matale. Sigiriya was a fortress of King Kashyapa. Due to its nature Sigiriya became a wonder of the world.
This rock is very steep. We enter Sigiriya through a big mouth of a lion. I have gone to Sigiriya once. This lion is carved out of stone. So it is called Sinhagiri. King Kashyapa made this to protect himself against his enemies. King Kashyapa ruled Anuradhapura from this fortress for 18 years.
Nowadays Sigiriya is a very famous place worldwide. I like Sigiriya very much.

My favourite flower
My favourite flower is Rose. There are many kinds of roses, red, yellow, white and pink. I have three kinds of roses at my home. They are pink, white and red. Butterflies and bees are coming to suck nectar from our roses. When the bees are coming I thought the bees will make hives. I love roses very much.
