View(s):A place I visited during my holidays
It was a late evening in December. It had been pouring with rain since morning and my family and I were stuck inside our home playing
a never-ending game of Monopoly.
We didn’t know that something enjoyable was coming up.
My mother received a call from a friend. As she spoke, a smile gradually spread across her face, My mother’s friend had invited us to spend a few days at Alawwa. Early next morning, we woke up and got dressed. I was really excited. In no time at all, we were all in the
car making our way to Alawwa.
We reached Alawwa withing two hours. I saw the hotel we were
going to stay in. It looked fabulous. We stayed there for three days and each day was great in its own way.
My sister and I went for swims while my father and brother played games of cricket. The meals we had at the hotel were delicious.
The people working at the hotel were caring and polite. The climate in Alawwa was quite cool. Alawwa has estates of rubber, coconut, tea and coffee.
The beautiful scenery, high mountains and calm environment makes it a wonderful place to visit. As we were leaving for home, I thanked my parents for the wonderful time and experience I had there. I had a great time and was really relaxed.
I hope to visit Alawwa again.
The time I spent there, filled my mind with wonderful memories to be cherished for a lifetime. Alawwa is a place that every Sri Lankan should visit at least once in a lifetime.

Teacher
Man is ambitious by nature. Everybody has an ambition in life. An ambition gives us an aim.
It gives us a sense of direction in life. My ambition in life is to become an ideal teacher. I can serve people by becoming an ideal teacher. A true teacher is the builder of the nation. I shall try to mould the character of my students and help them to choose their career.
I will make them ideal citizens. As an ideal teacher I should have high moral character. I shall be sincere, punctual, humble, kind and efficient.
Most people choose the professions which make money but my aim is different and not in this category. My aim is to serve the country.
I hope I can serve my nation by becoming an ideal teacher.

My favourite toy
My favourite toy is my fairy doll. My father is the person who brought me the fairy doll. He brought it from Bangkok in Thailand.
My fairy doll isn’t just any doll. It can fly only if you keep one of your hands under the fairy doll. There is a charger. If I don’t charge the fairy doll, she won’t have the energy to fly. She needs to be charged every day. She is pink in colour.
I named her Pinkie Rose Gunawardena. She has about four wings. The wings can’t flap up and down but they can rotate.
I like to play with my fairy doll and my friend Hasali. I love my fairy doll very much. I hope that my father will bring me another fairy doll if he visits Bangkok again.

Save our environment
Environment is the surroundings we live in, that is the land, water and air. Environment is very important for our survival. During the ancient days, our environment was not threatened by humans. In the modern world, the environment is polluted by humans for their personal benefit.
Land pollution is where people cut down trees for wood and other purposes, farmers using pesticides and throwing garbage pollutes the land. People should grow trees instead of cutting them down. We have to minimise the use of pesticides and use other methods. People should control garbage and put them in the proper places and not litter the environment.
Water pollution is polluting of lakes, rivers and the ocean. Pollution happens when chemicals mix with water. When people and animals drink polluted water, they fall sick. We have to educate people to stop putting chemicals into the water. Air gets polluted when poisonous gases, dust or smoke is released.
People fall sick by inhaling polluted air. We have to use vehicles which are environmentally friendly for our transport requirements so that there will be less smoke and we can minimise air pollution. We have to save our environment from pollution and keep it clean and beautiful to make a better place to live in for us and future generations to come.

Friends
“I would rather walk with a friend in the dark than walk in the light alone.” A friend gives you company. They understand you. They never leave you alone. They are friends.
Imagine a world where all the people who live in it do not want friends. A person is angry with his whole neighbourhood. He is angry with a person who needs help. He is an enemy of the whole world. This is not what we hope for. Living without a friend is impossible. From the day we get to know other people, we look for friends. They are very valuable. They play a large role in our lives.
There are bad friends, a lot of them. But there are really good companions too. We must learn to differentiate between them. A good friend is friendly, respectful, innocent, enthusiastic, necessary and doesn’t leave you in any circumstance. These words made up the word ‘Friends’. Be a good friend to all, because you do not want to be lonely.
