The German Cultural Institute will screen ‘Absolute Giganten’ a 1999 German language film written and directed by Sebastian Schipper at 7 pm on October 12 at the auditorium of the Goethe Institute.

Set in Hamburg the film produced by Stefan Arndt and Tom Tykwer depicts how a group of young Germans react to the prospect of one of them leaving forever, and involves drink, V8 engines, and an extraordinary game of table football.

Floyd bids his two friends farewell in a Hamburg suburb. He is to start work on a ship the next day. Together, the three friends tour the sleeping city. A film about seemingly aimlessly trying things out, putting out feelers, escaping from stagnation and about new perspectives. The social criticism of earlier decades has largely been replaced by a playful narrative style.
