SLAF’s Air Symposium 2018 on October 18-19
View(s):The Colombo Air Symposium 2018, the 4th consecutive symposium organsied by the Sri Lanka Air force (SLAF), will take place on October 18-19, with over 40 foreign delegates from 20 countries in attendance, said SLAF Spokesman Group Captain Gihan Seneviratne.
The theme of the conference will be ‘Air Strategy in Substantiating the Geo-Strategic Importance of Sri Lanka.’ The topic selected aims to reach a better understanding of productive geo-strategic deployment of collective air-power in meeting national, regional and global challenges in the future.
The Conference will also explore the conditions and necessities on maritime security in the Indian ocean with respect to Geopolitical perspective of Sri Lanka, and discuss the role of the collaborative ‘Air-power’ in the Asia Pacific region, he told reporters at a press conference. Several research papers too will be presented at the symposium. The 6 sessions will focus on topics such as How Sri Lanka Air Force can exploit the advantage of her geo-strategic location, an Air Strategy for a small maritime nation, how ‘Air-Power’ can stimulate growth and ensure national security, how the Air Forces and aviation units of the region can work in unison to meet regional challenges, Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Management (HADR) and cross services cooperation.
