Movie on ‘Mathew’ next in line
‘According to Mathew’, Chandran Rutnam’s controversy ridden movie is next in line to be screened at the CEL circuit cinemas.
Based on true events and the Mathew Pieris’ double murder trial evidence, the film, originally made in English will be screened a number of selected theatres in Colombo and Jaffna, while a Sinhala dubbed copy will be released in other cinemas around the country.
While the English title is ‘According to Matthew’, the Sinhala title of the film will be ‘Matthew’.
A romance, crime and thriller movie, it revolves around a priest who was in charge of a church in the heart of Colombo and was convicted for the murders of his wife ( Eunice Pieris) and Russel Ingram, the husband of his lover in 1979.
The film stars former Miss Sri Lanka Universe and Bollywood actress, Jacqueline Fernandez, (who is making her English-language debut in the film) and Alston Koch.
The priest waws “condemned to death by hanging” for the double murders he committed.
Screening simultaneously with the English version, “Matthew” the Sinhala version will be released to nearly 50 CEL circuit centres including Regal, Majestic, Lido – Borella as the next attraction.
The film a produced by Taprobane Pictures in association with Ceylon Theatres (Pvt) Limited and it is a CEL release.
