Cygnus House emerge champions
The annual Athletic Meet of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda concluded successfully at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
According to the overall results, Cygnus won the championship with 339 points while Cetus, Ursa and Aquila won the first, second and third runner-up positions respectively with 321, 246 and 243 points.
The felicitation of the best athlete of the year was also a highlight of the event. Romeshi Ishara was adjudged as the best athlete. She won the first place in the 3rd South Asian Junior Athletic Championship 2018, third place in the 18th Asian Junior Athletic Championship 2018 and participated in the World Athletics Championships, Temple, Finland 2018. She also won the second runner-up in the Sir John Tarbat Senior Championship 2017, second runner-up in the All-Island School Games 2017 and the second runner-up in the Junior National Championships 2018 in the Under-20 Girls’ category.
The Western band, Eastern band, the Cadet Platoon of Lyceum Nugegoda along with the prefects and the house squads added colour to this much awaited annual event.
Warna Lakshan Dayarathne, who was the first Sri Lankan javelin thrower to participate in the World Athletic Meet graced the occasion as the chief guest while the Principal and the members of the management were also present. 2018
