Biennial meeting of the SLAMAC
View(s):At the Biennial meeting of the Sri Lanka Malay Confederation (SLAMAC) held on Sunday, October 14 at the Padang Auditorium, Colombo 2, office bearers representing affiliated member associations were elected for 2018 to 2020.
SLAMAC is a umbrella body comprising all the Malay Associations in Sri Lanka established to preserve their heritage, culture and their identity and create bonds of unity among Malays and develop friendly relations with other ethnic groups.
The Secretary General said they hope to hold a major Malay Rally in 2019 with a full day sports programme and an evening carnival. The sports day will include all the affiliated Malay sports associations and have literary competitions – Do You Know contests etc. The evening will see Malay cultural performances with many trade and food stalls.
