First innings win for St. Joseph’s
St. Joseph’s recorded a first innings win over Isipathana in the Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter concluded at the BRC ground yesterday.
The second day’s play saw Isipathana resuming from their overnight score of 66 for 1 being restricted for a score o f 172 runs. This was in reply to St. Joseph’s score of 190 made on day one. St Joseph’s batting the second time ended the day with the score of 118 for 9.
A match bag of ten wickets by Sasith Manuranga helped Rahula College Matara outclass Royal Panadura by an innings and 86 runs in the match played at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.
Royal Panadura resuming from their overnight score of 29 for 2 were bundled out for 73 with Sasith Manuranga doing the damage. This was in reply to the formidable score of 280 for 9 declared made by Rahula on the opening day’s play which came on the back of half tons made by Lakindu Chamodya and Bhagya Himath.
Royal Panadura made to follow on with a deficit of 203 runs found Sasith who bagged six scalps too hot to handle again and was bowled out for another low score of 121 runs.
Vidyaloka MV Galle batting first ended their innings making 158 on the opening day against Ananda Central Elpitiya who ended the day on 58 for 4 in the match played at Rathgama.
