LAWASIA expresses concern over Lanka’s political crisis

The Council of LAWASIA has joined the Bar Association of Sri Lanka in expressing its concern over the political crisis in Sri Lanka.
In a statement, LAWASIA said that at its annual meeting, it shared the concerns of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka with respect to the current situation in Sri Lanka and likewise urged the various authorities, institutions and parties to uphold the rule of law, good governance, and the provisions and spirit of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.

“LAWASIA echoes the call by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka for all parties concerned to address and resolve the situation and its related issues peacefully and in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka,” LAWASIA President Christopher Leong said. Last week, the Sunday Times, in its news story regarding this meeting had inadvertently reported that there was call to send a fact finding mission to Sri Lanka.
