Lyceum Wattala way head after day-one

Lyceum International School, Wattala heads the Medal Count with 34 medals at the end of the first day of the 24th Inter International Schools’ Swimming Championship 2018 commenced at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex yesterday.
Lyceum Wattala, have a clear lead of 10 medals over their nearest rivals Lyceum Nugegoda. Gateway Colombo and Lyceum Panadura occupy the third and fourth spots with 22 and 11 medals respectively.
The medals tally reads as: Lyceum Wattala 34 medals included 16 Gold, 7 Silver and 11 Bronze medals. Lyceum Nugegoda won 10 Gold, 9 Silver and 5 Bronze medals in their total medals of 24 while Gateway Colombo collected their 22 medals with 8 Gold, 7 Silver and 7 Bronze medals.
Thirteen new meet records were established at the end of day one with Wycherley’s Kyle Abeysinghe being the pick of the lot. He established two records in the Under-20 Boys 200m Individual Medley (IM) and in the Boys’ Under-20 100m Freestyle events. Damiru Wickremathunga of Lyceum Wattala joined Abeysinghe in setting up two records — in the Under-12 Boys 200m IM event and the Boys Under-12 50m Brest stroke events. The event concludes today.
