‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ sets off
View(s):Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne’s latest film venture ‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ based on the historical story written by a best-selling author of Sinhala literature W. A. de Silva has started production.
The film in which the script was written by the late Dr. Tissa Abeysekara, is produced by vetern producer Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena.
“There are a number of films made based on W. A. de Silva Silva’s novels. They are ‘Kele Handa’, ‘Deiyanne Rate’, ‘Daiwayogaya’ and ‘Handapana’,” said Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne. He saidout of all the novels author ed by W. A. de Silva, this 1938 historic romantic novel was the most successful.
“The story revolves around a triangle love story between Neelamani, Nayanananda and Hasanga, the fictional characters by W. A. de Silva,” Prof. Ariyaratne who is famous for his research based stories said.
‘Vijayaba Kollaya’ is set against the backdrop of the 16th century battle between the Kings of Kotte Kingdom and the Portuguese Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe will direct the music, Channa Deshapriya the cinematography while Manohari Hewawasam will coordinate the production. The executive producer of the film is Vishwanath Buddhika Keerthisena (Boodi) Prof. Ariyaratne’s 23rd film direction is also to celebrate the 71th anniversary of Sri Lankan cinema.
Vijayaba Kollaya is also Buddhi Keerthisena’s 8th film production.
