Bawantha slams career best knock of 184
A career best knock of 184 inclusive of 21 boundaries and five sixes by Bawantha Udangamuwa was the highlight of the first day’s play between Galle CC and Bloomfield in their quarter final encounter of the Premier Emerging League cricket tournament played at the Navy SC ground in Welisara, yesterday.
Bawantha was also involved in a valuable partnership of 144 runs for the fifth wicket with Avindu Fernando. This helped Galle CC taking the first lease of the wicket make a massive score of 320 runs. Bloomfield in their turn ended the day on 22 for 2.
Half tons by Raminda Wijesuriya and Savin Gunasekera enabled BRC taking the first lease of the wicket amass a formidable score of 357 runs against Tamil Union at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
Colts CC helped by half tons from Sri Lanka youth players Nishan Madushka and Jehan Daniel ended day one on top against Moors SC at the CCC grounds.
A seven wicket haul by Akash Senaratne helped SSC restrict Negombo CC for a score of 192 at the P. Sara Stadium. SSC in reply ended the opening day’s play on 173 for 6. The matches will be continued today.
