P. De S. Kularatne College, Ambalangoda under the leadership of that superb allrounder Ravishan Nethsara completed their preliminary round matches on an unbeaten note and heading the Group J in the Under 13 Division One cricket tournament.
Kularatne College beat Dharmasoka College by 79 runs, beat Devananda College by 85 runs, defeated Bentota Gamini NS by 5 wkts., Karandeniya NS by an innings and 279 runs and held for no decisions against Holy Cross College, Kalutara, Kalutara Vidyalaya and Rewatha NS.
Skipper Nethsara leading from the front contributed to his alma mater with huge contributions with the bat scoring 565 runs, which included one double hundred and two centuries. With the ball too this youngster stood up claiming 28 wickets in three matches. He was capable of taking vital wickets and making the break through whenever a partnership looked threatening.
A cricketer with a bright future ahead of him will be an asset for the country and it’s the duty of his coaches and school masters-in-charge to handle this star carefully to looked after well. Against Karandeniya NS Nethsara scored 229 out of a total of 348 for 2 wickets. His innings was fashioned with two boundaries and 20 hits over. He claimed 4 wickets for 6 runs in the first innings and 2 for 9 runs in the second innings.
Nethsara made merry with the Holycross College bowling attack scoring 123 runs off 112 deliveries and this masterly innings included with thirteen fours and eight towering sixes.
In a rain curtailed match against Kalutara Vidyalaya, Nethsara stood up for his school with an excellent 109 scoring off in 145 deliveries with ten boundaries and eight sixes.
