Sri Lanka Tourism has established its boards this week with the key appointments being filled by ministry officials.

Tourism Ministry Secretary S. Hetttiarachchi is currently appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).

Tourism Ministry Additional Secretary Waruna Samaradivakara has been appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

Tourism Ministry Additional Secretary D. L. Sannasooriya has been appointed as the Acting Chairperson of the boards of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Hotel Management (SLITHM).

These heads of institutions’ appointments were effected from November 28 and the rest of the board members have been appointed from today with the names sent from the respective industry associations.

SLTDA Director General Upali Ratnayake told the Business Times that last week they had presented the action plans from the respective institutions to the Secretary.

He noted that they were due to meet with Mr. Hettiarachchi in the first week of January to pass the budget in this regard from the monies that they generate from the industry.
