Japan’s top honour for P.B. Munasinghe
View(s):Japan has announced the conferment of “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays” on the late Punchi Banda Munasinghe, in recognition of his significant contribution to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Sri Lanka.
Mr. Munasinghe, who was an active and reliable Administration Director at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, had dedicated himself to establishing the Japanese Graduates Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JAGAAS). He was its founding secretary.
In 2007, he became the president of the association and took the lead in organising many seminars, lectures and workshops related to Japan. Through these activities, he had contributed greatly to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Sri Lanka.
He passed away on October 3, 2018.
