India home with easy despite Ilyaz ‘ton
View(s):India Emerging Team registered a comfortable six wicket win over Oman Emerging Team in a Group A match of the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup played at the R Premadasa Stadium yesterday.
Despite a brilliant century from top-order bat Aqib Ilyas, the inexperienced Oman cricketers could muster just 203 runs batting first. Ilyas hit 117 off 122 balls with 14 boundaries and single-handedly guided Oman Xl to the total. Leg-spinner Mayank Markande was chief tormentor claiming four for 41 in his ten overs and he was supported by J Jadav (3 for 33) and A Sheth (2 for 31).
This total was chased down with ease by the Indians thanks to some impressive top-order batting.
India reached 206 for the loss of four wickets with 53 balls to spare after Ak Baisn (83) and Himmat Singh (63) shared an imposing 128 runs for the third wicket to lay the foundation for their victory after Jay Odera struck in successive balls to reduce India for 33 for 2 in the seventh over. Odera finished with three for 38.
