CA Sri Lanka confers 356 students with Degrees, MBAs, CTAs and Diplomas at joint convocation

At a joint convocation organised by CA Sri Lanka’s School of Accounting & Business, School of Taxation and Business School, a total of 356 students were conferred with degrees, MBAs, CTAs as well as Postgraduate Diplomas and Executive Diplomas.
The Annual Convocation 2018 of the three schools of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) was held under the patronage of Professor Ariyarathna Jayamaha, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Kelaniya and Professor Barbara de la Harpe, Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

During the convocation, the CA Sri Lanka School of Accounting and Business conferred 120 students with the BSc. Applied Accounting Degree including 14 students who graduated with the BSc. Applied Accounting Special Degree. In recent years, the degree programme of CA Sri Lanka has earned an important reputation in the country as one of the most sought after accounting degrees in the country.

The degree has been approved by the University Grants Commission and has been accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and CPA Australia, while leading Australian Universities; Deakin and La Trobe offer transfer opportunities to students following the degree.

At the Convocation, the School of Taxation awarded 41 students the Chartered Tax Advisor qualification while another 36 students were granted the Certified Tax Advisor qualification to embark on a career in the field of taxation. The Certified Tax Advisor programme (CTA) is designed to meet the growing demand in Taxation in a local and global context. The programme is on par with UK and Australias standards, and specifically focuses on the tax system in Sri Lanka.

During the convocation, the CA Business School conferred 57 students with the Master of Business Administration degrees of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, which is conducted in Sri Lanka by the CA Business School, while another 77 students were conferred the Postgraduate Diploma in Business, Finance & Strategy and 25 students received their Executive Diploma in Business, Accounting & Strategy. The Business School, was set up to help develop business leaders with the ability to create, transform and sustain successful organizations. The school offers a multitude of programmes relevant to professionals in accounting and finance and non-finance fields. The USQ MBA is one of Sri Lanka’s most sought after foreign MBA programmes.
