CSE: Lowest turnover in a decade

View(s):

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recorded its lowest turnover in a decade on Friday, in the wake of the current political and economic uncertainty in the country, CSE data shows.

Friday’s turnover was Rs.68.8 million, the lowest since Rs. 64.3 million recorded on April 28, 2009. Market analysts said this is the worst as it’s almost in line with turnover posted during the war.

They said this has to do with the low sentiment stemming from the continuing political conflicts in the Government between the UNP and the President. On Friday, the All Share Index was up by 0.15 per cent to close at 6,067.66 with S&P up by 0.46 per cent to close at 3,105.75.
