Maris Stella home for tea
Maris Stella College was home for tea when they tamed St. Benedict’s in their own den by coasting to a comfortable seven-wicket win in the match concluded at Kotahena yesterday.
Resuming from their overnight score of 75 for 3, St. Benedicts put on a pathetic batting display as they succumbed to the bowling pair of Aveesha Keshan and Ravindu Fernando to be bundled out for 99 runs. This was in reply to Maris Stella’s first innings score of 199.
St Benedict’s made to follow on with a deficit of 100 runs managed to escape an innings defeat as they were bowled out for a low score of 117 runs which left Maris Stella just 18 runs for victory.
Meanwhile Half tons by Shenal Dangalla and Movin Subasinghe helped Wesley College, having resumed from their overnight score of 27 for 2 to make a bold reply of 335 for 6 in the second session of proceedings on day two in reply to St Joseph’s massive score of 413 for 6 declared at Campbell Park.
