Study local, go global with Aviation Australia and Asian Aviation Centre
View(s):Ever considered studying overseas? Taranga Vishvanath did just that, joining the aircraft maintenance engineering programme at Aviation Australia.
Taranga aspired of becoming a qualified aircraft maintenance engineer, with prospects of gaining a European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and U.A.E. General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) approved license.
“Amongst all of the EASA Part 147 approved training organisations, Aviation Australia had the best reputation in the aviation industry. This was evident in Australia and also overseas,” said Taranga.
Taranga completed the Aviation Australia and Asian Aviation Centre twinning programme, which is an eighteen-month course consisting of theoretical and practical training.
Arriving in Brisbane, Australia during the summer months, Taranga immediately felt at home, as the climate in Brisbane is very similar to that in Sri Lanka. Aviation Australia instructors assisted him to feel at home, helping with every aspect of moving to a new country.
“Australians are really nice and pleasant people. If I ever had a problem with something I approached the Aviation Australia social support services, who were really helpful to me and always solved my problems… they even helped me find somewhere to live,” said Taranga.
The practical training at Aviation Australia allows students to gain hands-on experience in an operational hangar, under the supervision of qualified, industry-experienced instructors.
“The hangar and engine workshop quickly became my favourite place. All of the instructors pay individual attention to you and make sure you’re keeping up with the class,” explained Taranga.
Taranga graduated with a Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, and soon will be working as an aircraft engineer for Qatar Airways in the Middle East.
“Studying with Aviation Australia was the best decision I made, as their qualifications are well received in the industry and are licensed by EASA and GCAA. Not only this, but their modern, practical resources and highly qualified instructors made it the best place to study,” said Taranga.
The next course operated by Asian Aviation Centre and Aviation Australia will take place in April 2019. To enquire visit aac.lk or aviationaustralia.aero.
