Husband remanded over wife’s killing

A man who allegedly stabbed his wife to death over her alleged infidelity, has been remanded till February 2, after he surrendered to the Ragama Police.

Police said that, initial investigations revealed that the victim, a nurse at a private hospital in Colombo, had allegedly, been having an affair with a doctor engaged in private practice at the hospital, and that, her husband had allegedly, murdered her over the matter.

The suspect is an executive at a private insurance company, police said.

According to police, the husband had received information of his wife’s alleged infidelity and questioned her, leading to quarrels between the two.

An exchange of words had occurred between the two on the day of the incident as well, whereupon the suspect is alleged to have stabbed his wife, a 35-year-old mother of two.

The victim had been taken to hospital following a police 119 emergency call, reporting a woman lying bleeding on the road. She was pronounced dead on admission to Ragama Hospital.
