Army joins the war against narcotics
View(s):In a fresh initiative to crack down on drug use in the country and a programme launched by President Maithripala Sirisena to create awareness of the harm caused by narcotics, the Army, too, got involved in the campaign.
The Army’s 11th Brigade stationed in Pallekelle, on the initiative of Maj.Gen. T.K. Nannaykkara recently distributed handbills in 1,298 schools in Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Badulla Districts, on the dangers of using narcotics, consuming alcoholic beverages and smoking. Pic by L.B. Senaratne.
