Dankotuwa temptress runs out of tricks
View(s):A young, married woman who promised conjugal love and jobs overseas for men for a price has been arrested by police after being on the run for a while.
She is suspected to have married several different youths who had entertained dreams of working in Italy. The men, from Maha Weva, Marawila, Gampaha and Galle, had parted with amounts ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs1.7 million. The woman had disappeared after pocketing the cash, Marawila Police said.
The 35-year-old woman living in Mawathagama, Dankotuwa is a mother of two. Nothing is known about her spouse. She was nabbed along with four other suspects and another woman on October 19 last year in Chilaw by the Marawila police at a lawyer’s office. The suspects were produced before Marawila District Court and released on bail.
Police said some of the men came to the Marawila Police to record statements after she was arrested. Police learnt that she had adopted a false name “Vishmi Dilhari” and had forged identity cards and birth certificates. She has even pasted her photo on a visa to Italy.
Investigations are continuing under S P Edirisinghe CI of Marawila Police.
