Ananda College Basketball 2019 Championship a tremendous success

Ananda College Colombo, the first school to introduce basketball in Sri Lanka in 1927, recently held its Inter-House Basketball Championship at the newly renovated college basketball courts. The event organised by the Anandian Basketball Wing, concluded with champions being crowned in the Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-20 Categories.
The event was presided over by Chief Guest, Minister of Public Administration and Management and former Anandian Cager captain, Ranjith Maddumabandara, who declared the tournament open and presented the awards.
The event concluded with the crowning of Wijaya House as champions with an aggregate of 24 points and won in the Under-12, 16 and 20 age group categories and Gemunu House emerging as champions in the Under-14 category.
The fixtures in the finals saw Wijaya House take the Under-20 championship with a 34-29 win over Gemunu House, the Under-16 Championship with a win of 19-16 over Ashoka House and a 18-7 win over Gemunu House to secure the Under-12 Championship. Gemunu House triumphed over Ashoka House 27-4 to win the Under-14 Championship.
