View(s):University of Sri Jayewardenepura had joined hands with worlds top universities to offer Joint Research Degrees at both masters and doctoral level. Some of such universities are Queensland University of Technology, Deakin University, University of Western Australia, Griffith University Australia and University of Calgary, Canada. Opportunities are thus provided for research degrees at both masters and doctoral levels. The University of Calgary, Canada provide opportunities for joint research degrees at doctoral level. Eligibility for application:
The eligibility criteria is in line with the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework and can be viewed at

Modalities of Operation
The Student will register with the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura under the relevant Board of Study. At least one supervisor will be appointed locally and one supervisor will be appointed from the foreign university. The student will work under the guidance of the supervisors both local and foreign. Student will spend majority of the time in Sri Lanka while certain portion of the time needs to be spent in the foreign country as follows;
n Queensland University of Technology, Australia
n At Masters Degree level – 6 months need to be spent in Australia
n At Doctoral Degree level – one year need to be spent in Australia
n University of Calgary, Canada
n At Doctoral Degree level – one year need to be spent in Canada
A living allowance of 1200 Canadian dollars will be paid per month for the students who pursue the joint degrees (PhD only) with University of Calgary, Canada. In case of Queensland University of Technology, the students are able to apply for competitive grants.
Course fees
The student will pay the course fees to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He/she will be exempted from the course fees in foreign universities. The fees for each programme will be listed in the website of the Faculty of Graduate Studies (www.graduate.sjp.ac.lk).
Examination:
The student will have to face examinations conducted by both universities (local and foreign).
Award of the Degree
The degree will be awarded by both universities.
