Central Finance beat NDB by 40 runs
Vikum Costa along with Nimesh Fernando and Anura Karunaratne guided Central Finance to a 40-run victory over National Development Bank in the first quarter-final match of the Coca Cola-MCA ‘D’ Division 40-Over League Tournament 2019 played at the MCA Grounds yesterday.
Batting first Central Finance scored 184 in 38.8 overs. Costa top scored with an unbeaten 56 while Charuka Raveen, Fonseka, Muditha Elpitiya and Ravindu Maduranga shared nine wickets among them to cause trouble for the Finance people.
NDB chasing a target of 185 to win managed only 144 for the loss of eight wickets. Dhanushka Sandaruwan and Isuru Wijethunga top scored with 40 and 25 not out. Nimesh Fernando and Anura Karunarathne were the most successful bowlers for the winners.
The second quarter-final match between David Peiris Motor Company and Airport and Aviation scheduled to be played at the Thurstan College Grounds yesterday was postponed due to unsuitable ground condition. -The third and fourth quarter final matches scheduled to be played today at the MCA Grounds and Veyangoda are Delmege Group vs. Heshan Flexi Packaging and DFCC Bank vs. Bodyline (Pvt) Ltd.
