Gateway Colombo clinch TISSL Netball Championship
View(s):Gateway College, Colombo emerged champions in the Under-20 Inter-International (TISSL) Netball Tournament 2019 in the finals played at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. Both, Gateway College and Ilma International Girls School, who hosted the tournament for the ninth successive year, remained unbeaten in their respective groups matches, qualifying them to be in the finals.
In the group stage, Gateway Colombo beat Lyceum International School, Panadura 13-1, Gateway Kandy 10-2, Royal Institute 19-1 and received a walkover from Asian International School.
Ilma International Girls School beat CIS Colombo 10-9, The British School 15-2, Lyceum International School Wattala 6-5 and Burhani Serendib School 25-0.
In the semi-finals, Gateway Colombo beat Lyceum International School Wattala 13-6, while Ilma International Girls School beat Lyceum International School Panadura 18-6. In the Plate finals, Gateway Kandy beat CIS Colombo 8-4 to emerge winners.
Gateway Colombo carried away most of the individual awards, including Best Centre Court player Shenell Yahathugoda, Best Defense Player Aneesha Perera while Uvindi Senadheera was crowned Netball Queen. Ameena Khalid from Ilma International Girls School was awarded the Best Shooter.

Devapathiraja, Wadduwa Central, Rathnavali and Anula Vidyalaya book berths
Devapathiraja College, Rathgama, Wadduwa Central College, Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha and Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda booked their berths to play in the semi- finals of the Singer All Island Girls Under 19 cricket tournament 2019.
Devapathiraja College, Rathgama defeated Marapola Vidyalaya, Veyangoda by seven wickets in the first quarter final while Wadduwa Central College beat Nugawela Central College by 41 runs in the second quarter finals. In the third quarter final match Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha trounced Pelawatta Navodya School, Buttala by 228 runs and in the last quarter final last year’s runner-up Anula Vidyalaya had an easy passage in defeating Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy by a massive 220 runs.
Anulian Janadi Amali and Gampaha Rathnavali’s Sanduni Nisansala stole the limelight in the quarters by scoring an unbeaten 167 and 102 not out respectively while Rathnavali Balika’s Vishmi Devmini missed a century by one run when she was dismissed for 99 in the third quarter final match.
