Get ready to fall under their spell
Ready for some magic? Award-winning magician and mentalist duo, The Clairvoyants will be in Colombo to weave their spell on the audience at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre on April 4.
Austrian duo Amélie van Tass and Thommy Ten are the world champions of mindreading and are all set for a mind-bending show of mentalism and unique illusions presented by Cinnamon Life. Their shows have sold out around the world as they keep audiences mesmerized with their tricks and illusions.
The European shooting stars have earned a number of awards, titles and nominations. In 2015, Amélie and Thommy were ‘German Champions of Mentalism’, ‘Magicians of the Year’ and ‘World Champions of Mentalism’ – a prize that hadn’t been awarded in 30 years. The duo received worldwide acclaim in 2016, when they became the runners-up of America’s Got Talent Season 11. They were also named ‘Stage Magicians of the Year’ in 2016 and nominated for the same title in 2017.
Recently, the Clairvoyants were runners-up at America’s Got Talent: The Champions, an epic showdown between the best acts from Got Talent shows across the world.
Born and raised in Austria, Amélie van Tass and Thommy Ten came together as a duo in October 2011, realizing their mutual knack and penchant for performing illusions. Two months after they first met, they delivered their incredible ‘Second Sight’ act on stage, which within a year, they honed and developed into a full-length show.
With their reputation fast growing, Amélie and Thommy began touring Europe, and in 2014, received their first long-term contract in America. After an impressive six-month run in ‘The Illusionarium’, a magic-infused cruise ship dinner show, The Clairvoyants were offered a highly coveted featured spot in ‘The Illusionists’, the largest touring magic show in the world.
In a bid to showcase their craft to audiences across the globe they signed up for the eleventh season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), the largest reality TV competition in the world. Four months and six performances later, the dynamic duo clocked in at second place out of over 100,000 contestants. Since then, Amélie and Thommy have enjoyed several career highs, including performing at the Sydney Opera House and appearing at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, alongside Grace Vanderwaal, winner of AGT Season 11.
Later in 2016, The Clairvoyants celebrated yet another milestone when they were commissioned to headline the show ‘The Illusionists – Turn of the Century’ at the Palace Theatre in New York City. It was recorded as the bestselling magic show in Broadway history.
