Tivanka Ekaratne elected 28th President of the Colombo Law Society

Mr. Tivanka Ekaratne
The Colombo Law Society, the largest branch association of lawyers in Sri Lanka, with more than 3500 members recently elected Tivanka Ekaratne as its President for the year 2019/2020. He is the youngest to be appointed to this prestigious office.
Mr.Ekaratne possesses a Master’s degree in International Trade Law from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He also possesses a post graduate degree in Intellectual Property Law and is currently reading a Ph.D. Mr. Ekaratne hails from a legal background in which his father Justice Kumar Ekaratne, was a High Court Judge and grandfather S. Ekaratne, was an eminent Counsel. In a statement, the new President committed himself to the morally infallible, highly professional operation of lawyers and the unified professional order. He emphasised that lawyers are indispensable, unique, and sovereign members of the judicial system.
