A successful Canada University Fair 2019
It was a full house at the Canada University Fair 2019 attracting over 400 participants on Saturday, February 16th at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo and on Sunday, February 17th at ANC Branch Campus Kandy organised by the Canadian High Commission in partnership with ANC. Students from all around the island met with Canadian university representatives that provided students and parents one-on-one counselling sessions and guiding them on the variety of study options available in Canada; specific colleges and universities, academic courses/ majors offered, cost and financial aid, scholarships for international students, on-campus employment, internship opportunities, standard test (SAT, IELTS, TOEFL) score requirements and student life and campus culture in Canada. The Canadian High Commission representatives were also present at the fair and provided guidance on study permits to Canada.
World ranked Canadian universities including University of British Colombia best known for being among the 40 best globally and top 20 public universities in the world, York University among the world’s top university in research and academics, University Canada West known for its business-oriented career focused programmes, Royal Roads University for their 75-year long history of excellence in leadership and learning and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) known for their exceptional programmes in electrical, computer & software engineering were present at the Canada University Fair 2019.
An excerpt of Sri Lanka’s first Canada University Fair experience, Mr. Ashwin Duggi of York University-Regional Recruitment Manager, India had this to say ‘It was my first time in Sri Lanka and the fair was bustling with a fabulous response of students many of whom had exceptional GCSE results to get into York University’.
‘We met many students interested in Physical sciences, Engineering and Biomedical science which are sought after fields at UBC and we made sure students logged on to our site and entered their details so we can continue to update students and be in touch’ says Mr. Jeff Kiyooka, Manager International Recruitment, Asia & Europe of University of British Colombia.
The Canada University Fair 2019 marks one of the first of many International University Fairs for 2019 hosted by ANC Education. ANC will be hosting the next US Education Fair in September 2019.
