MoUs signed between J’Pura Uni and NSYSU
View(s):Two Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed between the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) and the National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), providing an umbrella for increased collaboration between the two universities.
An 11-member delegation from NSYSU visited USJP for the inauguration of the newly built Environmental Change Sciences and Technology Innovation Center (ESTIC) at the Department of Zoology.
Prof Ranil de Silva, Director of the World Class University Project’s collaborations with NSYSU was instrumental in the signing of the two MoUs by Professor Ying-Yao Cheng, President, NSYSU and Prof Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor USJP.
Some of the benefits of the MoUs would be:
- Double, split-joint collaborative research projects leading to Master’s and Doctoral postgraduate biotechnology degrees between NSYSU and USJP
- Multi-disciplinary innovative research collaborations
- Tuition-waiver scholarship by NSYSU
- Public Private Partnerships linking industry and academia, leading to product development targeting global market
Prof de Silva said the visit has undoubtedly strengthened the bond between the two universities, and it’s laid a basis for even closer, more cooperative relations between NSYSU and USJP in the future.
