Fate of clairvoyant who predicted Hitler’s election victory
Istvan Szabo’s film ‘Hanussen’ will be screened as part of the ongoing series of Artur Brauner‘s ‘Films Against Oblivion” at the Goethe Hall in Colombo.
The film tells the story of the fate of Klaus Schneider, a real figure who caused a sensation in Europe as the clairvoyant and magician Jan Hanussen. His prediction of Hitler’s election victory in Berlin brings him to the attention of the Nazis. He makes a decisive mistake, however, when he predicts the burning of the German Reichstag. Hanussen is kidnapped and killed in the woods.
The film will be screened at 7 pm on March 8.
