The Ministry of Education (MoE) has informed the Teacher Unions that it could not resolve the Teachers’ and Principals’ demands, and the matter would have to be resolved by the Treasury.

Teachers and Principals plan to go on sick leave on March 13, in a bid to urge the Government to meet several of their demands.
Among the demands are that the Government resolves the issue of salary anomalies which has been pending since 1997.

They also want the Government to allocate 6% of the country’s Gross Domestic Production (GDP) to the Education sector, but the MoE explained that, collectively, the allocation for Education related activities was higher than their demand. – PJ
