The Railways Department hopes to introduce women- only compartments in all office trains in the future, following the positive response to the introduction of such compartments in some trains, on International Women’s Day, a senior Railways official said.

Railways Department Superintendent (transport), Gamini Seneviratne said, currently seven such carriages have been introduced to Colombo bound office trains–from Mirigama, Rambukkana, Maho, Polgahwela, Puttalam, Galle and Matara.
