“The Orenburg Region of Russia – the Heart of Eurasia ” ends today

With International Women’s Day celebrated worldwide on March 8, the Russian Centre in Colombo hosted the exhibition “The Orenburg Region of Russia – the Heart of Eurasia “. The exhibition which opened on March 6 featured art photography by the famous Russian nature photographer Sergey Zhdanov, a bright display of silk paintings by the artist and designer Natalia Akakina and, of course, traditional Orenburg downy shawls.
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya was chief guest at the opening of the exhibition on March 6 organized by the Russian Centre together with the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts (OOMIZO).
Among the special guests was Ambassador of the Russian Federation Yuri Materi and Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Advisor to the President on international affairs, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Russia Friendship Society and former Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation.
The exhibition “The Orenburg Region of Russia – the Heart of Eurasia ” ends today, March 10.
