With a proud history of over 100 years, St. Joseph’s College has sheltered thousands of scholars and has mentored young minds to become great leaders and role models in Sri Lanka and all over the world. In celebration of her greatness, the Old Boy Association organised their annual ‘Josephian Vehicle Parade’ to be held on 23rd of March 2019.
This vehicle parade with 8 years of history is organised with lots of enthusiasm and pride. Beginning with the participation of nearly 150 vehicles during the first few years it is now a statuesque event with over 1500 vehicles and with more than 20 sponsors.
This year, the parade started at 7 am, from the College premises in Colombo-10 to SSC Stadium in Colombo.
Mr Lahiru Munasinghe, the chairman of the organising committee of the Josephian Vehicle Parade 2019 joined with us to share his thoughts on this grand event. He said, ‘As one batch we have created lots of new ideas to our college, the vehicle parade is one of the most significant events we do every year. As the president of the founding batch of the vehicle parade event, I’m excited to organise this year’s event with a new look to it. I remember our first vehicle parade was done on a small scale. But after 2011 our past presidents have gradually added more value to this event. Not it’s one of the most thrilling, exciting and most disciplined parades in Colombo. This year’s tag line for the parade was “be a part of a solution, not part of the pollution” So our message is to keep our mother nature clean and minimise pollution.
The organising committee wishes to extend a warm invitation to all Josephians to join vehicle parade and to keep this well established tradition going to cheer the team to a victory.”
