Trinity rally well to beat St. Anthony’s
View(s):The Trinity team rallied well under the leadership of stand-in captain Kavishka Senadheera to beat their rivals by 50 runs and annex the Sir Richard Aluvihare Trophy in their annual limited over match at Asgiriya.
All-rounder Abishek Anandakumar chipped in with 15 runs but played an important role in the bowling by bagging 5 for 23 with his quickish off spin. Opener Agbo Amarasinghe, who replaced the injured Bandara, made 14, with a beautiful back foot for four.
Trinity’s final total was due in the main to the sensible and technically sound 30s scored by Ashan Lokukettiya and Chanuka Kumarasinghe. They liaised in a stand of 51 for the fourth wicket.
Kavishka Senadheera, came in as late as number nine and laid about him to score a punishing 20. Antonian left armer Nimnaka Jayatilleke took the bowling honours with 4 for 29.
Wickremasinghe batted resolutely for his top score of 32. Skipper Theekshana Gunasinghe guided the innings with a sedate innings of 19 before essaying an unwise sweep and departed. All hell broke thereafter as the Trinity team tightened the grip and scythed through the last few batsmen. Former Trinity skipper Charith Dumbarange was the chief guest.
