Working under a challenging backdrop, both experienced and young Bangladeshi filmmakers have created an impressive mark in the cinema map of Asia. In such a setting, festival of Bangladeshi films would be a rare opportunity to many filmgoers, cinema lovers and students in Sri Lanka.

Organised by Bangladesh High Commission, the second Bangladesh Film Festival with a number of award winning and internationally acclaimed set of films will be screened at the National Film Corporation cinema hall Colombo 7 from March 29 to 31.

The festival will open with ‘Sapnojaal’ directed by Giasuddin Selim at 5.30 pm on March 29.

On March 30, ‘Ghraan’ by Kamrul will be screened at 3 pm, at 4 pm ‘Matir Porjar Desh’ by Bijon Imtiaz and ‘Debi’ by Anam Biswas at 6 pm will be shown.

On March 31 Tanvil Mokammef’s ‘Shimathorekha’ will be screened at 3 pm and Noor Imran Mithu’s award winning film ‘Komala Rocket’ will be screened at 6.30. The debut direction by Mithu, ‘Komala Rocket’, won the Best Film award at the Jaffna Film Festival 2018.

A Master class on cinema also will be held from 10 an 12 noon on March 31 at Colombo Film and Television Academy in Colombo 7.
