Royal overcome Kingswood test
View(s):Kingswood were expected to give the Royalists, the champions of the last two years, a good run for their money. What actually took place was a little different. Royal called on their famed defensive skills to ensure that there opponents were not given too much space and time in their half.
The fact that Kingswood were unable to cross the Royalists line and had to rely on the four penalties converted by Thirusha Sampath testifies to the excellence of the Royal defence, and at the same time the inability of the Kingswood back divsion to play their normal free flowing game.
Tries by prop Mohammed Nawran and number eight Radish Wijeratne enabled the visitors to take a 10-6 lead at the break.
The only goal of the match was scored in the second half by substitute Madush Vikum and converted by Malshan Perera. The later also converted a penalty to make up the final tally 20-10. This is Royal’s fourth consecutive win and they retain the leadership in their group.
